Privacy

You are about to answer honest questions. Here is what happens to the answers.

This policy covers datingmou.com and the Dating MOU product, operated by Luke AI, LLC. It is written to be read, not to be survived. Last updated 15 August 2026.

Sealed until you both finish

Your partner sees nothing — not a preview, not your progress — until you have both completed your answers.

Never sold

We do not sell your answers or your personal information, and we do not share them with advertisers.

Deletable in one step

You can delete your account and every answer from your account page, without emailing anyone.

Nothing here binds you

The MOU creates no legal obligation. It is not a contract, not legal advice, and not therapy — neither of you has anything to enforce.

What we collect

Everything below is something you type, choose, or upload — we do not buy data about you from anyone, and we do not build a profile of you from other sites.

Your account

Your name and email address, and either a password (stored only as a bcrypt hash, never as text we can read) or a link to the Google or Slack account you signed in with.

Your profile

Your age bracket, your chosen question tone, any cultural-context tags you pick, and your answers to three setup questions — whether you want children, how close you are to your family, and how you describe your relationship structure. These decide which questions you get asked and how they are phrased. Nothing here is shown to your partner as a profile.

Your photo

Optional. If you add one it is stored with our image host, Cloudinary, and shown to people you connect with.

Your answers

Your answer to each question, whether you marked something a dealbreaker, and whether you skipped it. We also record how long you spent on each question and how many times you changed an answer. That timing data is used to improve the question set — it is never shown to your partner or included in any report.

Invites you send

The email address of the person you invite and the personal message you write to them.

Payments

If you buy invites, our payment processor Stripe handles the card. We store only the amount, the status, and Stripe's reference for the transaction. Your card number never reaches our servers.

Usage and feedback

Events from the question runner (which question, how far you got) and standard web analytics through Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies in your browser. If you send us a note through the FAQ form, we keep the message and any email address you give us.

Who sees your answers

Your partner sees nothing until you have both finished. While either of you is still answering, the other cannot see your answers, your progress, or which questions you skipped. There is no preview and no partial reveal.

Once you have both finished, the seal opens both ways at once. You each see the same thing: your two answer sets side by side, plus an agreement drafted from them. Neither of you can edit an answer after that point — that restriction is the reason the comparison means anything.

Nobody else sees it unless you decide otherwise. A report is private to the two of you. If you choose to create a share link, anyone holding that link can read that report — so treat it like a document, not a password. You can disable the link at any time from the report page, and disabling it cuts off everyone using it.

When you both finish, we email each of you a copy of the report automatically. Email is not a secure channel; if that matters to you, consider that copy as living in your inbox permanently.

Our staff. A small number of our people can access account records through an internal admin tool — to fix a broken account, investigate abuse, or comply with the law. We do not read answer sets for any other reason.

Companies that process it

We run on other companies' infrastructure. Each of these sees only the slice it needs, and each is bound by its own contract with us. Most are based in the United States; where one is not, it is named below with the country it operates from, because that is the part you cannot look up for yourself.

The company that drafts your MOU is currently Anthropic PBC, in the United States. We can change AI provider, and this page names whichever one is live rather than whichever one we happened to start with — so it is worth re-reading if that matters to you.

Vercel

Hosts the site and runs the application.

Neon (PostgreSQL)

Stores the database — your account, profile, and answers.

Anthropic PBC

Reads both completed answer sets to draft your MOU — the one processor that sees what you actually wrote. Anthropic PBC is based in the United States. Under its commercial API terms, content sent this way is not used to train its models.

Resend

Delivers invites, reminders, and report emails.

Stripe

Processes payments and holds the card details we never see.

Cloudinary

Stores profile photos.

Google Analytics 4

Measures site usage. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies.

Deleting your data

Go to your account page and use Delete account. It takes effect immediately — there is no waiting period and no email to send us.

What deletion removes: your account and login, your profile, your photo, your entire answer set, and every connection you are part of — whether you sent the invite or received it — including its invite, its report, its MOU, and any share link. Your partner's copy of a shared report goes too: an MOU is drafted from both people's answers, so there is no version of it left that is not partly yours.

What survives, and why:

Anything already downloaded or emailed

If your partner saved the PDF or still has the report email, they keep it. We cannot reach into someone else's inbox or hard drive, and any service that claims it can is lying to you.

Your partner's own answers

Their answer set is theirs, not yours. It stays, and they can reuse it for other connections.

Stripe's transaction record

Payment processors are legally required to retain transaction records, so Stripe keeps its own record of anything you bought. We delete ours.

Usage events and feedback, de-linked

Analytics events and any feedback you sent stay, with your account reference stripped out, so they are no longer connected to you.

You can also delete a single connection without closing your account. Either person can leave a connection from the dashboard, which removes it and its report for both of you. If you paid for an invite the other person never started, the credit returns to you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — the UK, the EU, California and several other US states — you have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable form.

Deletion you can do yourself, immediately, from your account page. For access, correction, or a copy of your data, email hello@datingmou.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will never charge you for a request or make you justify it.

If you are in the UK or EU, our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you for the answers and reports that make the product work, and legitimate interest for security and product analytics. You can complain to your local data protection authority if you think we have got this wrong.

How long we keep it

Your account, profile, answers, and reports stay until you delete them or ask us to. We do not expire them on a timer — an MOU you wrote two years ago is often the reason to come back to it.

Invites that are never accepted stay with the connection until it is deleted. Analytics events are retained in aggregate. Backups are kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data can persist in a backup for that long before it ages out.

Security and age

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in a readable form. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, and we will not claim ours is — if we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the relevant regulator.

Dating MOU is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If we learn that we hold data from someone under 18, we delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and email you before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Dating MOU after that means you accept the updated policy.

Questions about any of this go to hello@datingmou.com. A real person reads it.
